Johannah Waite, M.Ed
Johannah grew up in the small town in Bayfield WI and attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She visited Costa Rica for the first time in 2006, where she was a student at Intercultura Heredia. This experience peaked her interest in both learning Spanish and caring for the Environment. She graduated from UWM in 2009 with Bachelors of Arts in Conservation and Environmental Science. In 2010, after working for several Environmentally focused non-profits in the city of Milwaukee, Johannah decided to return to Costa Rica and volunteer for La Asociacion CREAR. Once settled in Playa Samara, she began to co-direct the Asociación, as the Director of Development. In 2012, with her extensive experience in the Non Profit sector and Education she participated in a training “Managing Social Responsible Projects, Creating Alliances between, the Public and Private Sector for Sustainable Growth” offer by the University of Costa Rica. In 2015, she returned to school for her Master’s Degree in International Education from Framingham State University. Meanwhile she shifted gears and began to work at a local non-profit school, Sámara Pacific School, as an Administrator and Preschool teacher. She joined the Intercultura team in July 2017. Johannah is fluent in English & Spanish, and in her free time enjoys hiking with her dogs, time with family, travel, and exploring Latin American culture.
