2015 Teen Camp, Week One in Review

Intercultura's Teen Camp 2015 has started off with a bang!  The teens met on Monday morning and hit it off as if they were old friends.  They hit the town running with a trip to Heredia's Central Market where they tried an array of unfamiliar, exotic fruits such as carambola (star fruit), guanabana (sour sop), mamón and mamón chino (lychee) and even manzana de agua (water apple).

They spend four hours each day in Spanish immersion classes suited for their conversation levels.  Some are saying they've already learned more in the last four days than in their entire school semester!

The teens have already volunteered their time in a local nursery school and at the wild animal refuge where they got to see some animals in rehabilitation.  Next week they'll continue to build their resumes for college applications by helping with a beach clean-up and by volunteering with the sea turtles.  They're having fun while helping better the country that hosts them...¡Pura Vida!

On Wednesday they went to La Paz waterfall gardens and a wonderful time was had by all.  As the first week wraps up, these kids are ready to pack their bags for a weekend trip to the Baldí hot springs, heated naturally by the Arenal Volcano and on Sunday they're going to start the day by zip-lining over the lush green valleys of the Monteverde Cloud Forest.

We look forward to welcoming them to our beachfront Pacific campus in Playa Sámara next week and we'll keep you updated with more news about the weekend trip, Monday's surf lesson and more adventures with Intercultura's Teen Volunteer Adventure Camp!
