Katie was born and raised in sunny Sacramento, California.  In 2006, she spent a semester abroad in Spain studying Spanish language and culture. Upon her return to the United States, Katie pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater and Dance and graduated in 2010, all the while maintaining her desire to speak more Spanish.  Before graduating, she made a commitment to herself to move to a Spanish-speaking country to fulfill her dream of Spanish fluency.  In 2011, she moved to Costa Rica to improve her Spanish-speaking skills and began working at a political call center. Katie then joined Intercultura´s team in Heredia as the Group Coordinator and Student Advisor. Now living in Heredia, she works hard to empower and encourage Spanish students who are studying at Intercultura.  Her hobbies are dance, theater, rock climbing, and adventure sports.  She hopes to return to school one day to obtain a Masters degree in Spanish to teach the language that will forever inspire her.
